Voldermort's real name is Tom Mavolo Riddle. He is son of Merope Gaunt. He's father was Muggle lived in the same town that Gaunts lived. Gaunts are pure bloods and they are descendants of Salazar Slytherin. Anyway Voldermort is half blood. He's father leaved him before he was born and he's mother died after give birth to him.

Voldermort wanted eternal life. So he made horcruxes and wanted the Philosopher's Stone. When he was student, he asked Horace Slughorn about Hocruxes. Voldermort made seven Horcruxes. One of his Horcrux is Mavolo Gaunt's ring. The ring has the Stone of Resurrection, the Deathly Hollow on it. Dumbledore destroyed it. After Dumbledore's death, it's Harry's work to destroy the Horcuxes. He already destroyed Riddle's diary in the Chamber of Secrets when he was second grade of Hogwart school.
